Shamrock
March 1998

The shamrock was my first origami creation. It is now diagrammed. It is probably low-intermediate difficulty. I actually sat down with the intention of creating a shamrock. Lots of times I just start folding and stop to look at the model to see what it resembles and try to create an origami model that way.

Traditional Pine Tree
Matsunoki
Traditional Model
Absolute Beginner's Origami by Nick Robinson
I first encountered this origami model just browsing through Robinson's book at a local Borders bookstore. It is so simple I memorized it after one look. It seems a little ironic to be folding origami trees from origami paper made from trees. Something about that hurts my brain.

Variation of Traditional Origami Pine Tree

I made a few additional folds and came up with this origami tree. The model is designed for endless variations!

Waterlily and Lily Pad

Simple Traditional Origami
These origami models are easy to fold. The lily pad is from a Japanese book found at a Chinese grocery store in Chicago.

Strawberry

Simple Traditional Origami
I used two sheets for this since the polka dot origami paper that was backed with white. This is such a clever design! It's very interesting to fold two different origami models of the same subject matter and see the differences in folding techniques and creative thought processes of different creators. Both designers create the same thing, like a strawberry, but the methods to used to reach the same end can be so different.

I used duo-colored paper for this model. Diagrams for this model can be found at OrigamiUSA Website. I really enjoy folding this origami model.
